You don't need to study the history of the United States long to discover that much of our rich heritage had its beginnings in small towns. Many of these small towns across the country have successfully preserved some of that history so we can all visit and enjoy what started years ago. In our FreedomProject Education (www.FPEUSA.org) U. S. History classes in the Fall of 2014, I asked the students to each pick a historic small town and write a sort of Info-Log about the town. For consistency and to make it easier for any viewer to read and understand, they were asked to use a common format that must include a short history of the town, directions, who was President when it was founded, what historic landmarks are in the town, a note about the town government, where could you stay in town, what you might want to see and do when visiting, and then links so you can learn more. Click any of the Regions listed below to see more about the Small Historic Towns Across America that the students uncovered. You might want to download and print their PDF files and visit some of these interesting places.
